The Media and Shaivo
By JenThe Daily Show has put together a magnificant montage of the ridiculous conversations taking place. Crooks and Liars has the video. I've refused to watch any television because I knew I'd be smashing my fists into my temples if I did, but I had no idea it had gotten this bad. One talking head actually refers to Michael Shaivo as "her so-called husband". Wha..?
I wish I could describe in great detail how I feel about this latest American drama, but I can't. There are two words that keep haunting me though - sadness and fear. What have we become?

I've been following this loosely for the past few months, not enough to know all details but to be aware of what's going on. I'm too far removed to make a judgement on the case – it belongs within the family members. I will say that, as hard as it is being a parent, the spousal rights in this matter should take precedent over all else. But, there needs to be conclusive evidence that her condition will never improve before making a drastic decision.
I really feel Congress and the President had no business getting involved. This is a family issue, not a political one. I feel sadness and empathize with both sides of the argument, but that's all I am aloud, as are the rest of us. As for the talking heads making such a granstanding ordeal over this, I'm trully disgusted. Let the family have their peace and dignity as they work out their personal issue.

Yes, I remember feeling the same way when Bill and Janet sent an armed team to get Elian against FL court orders. When will government extract itself from family matters? And why is Florida always where this stuff happens?
